Landlord-tenant law is a branch within land (property) law dealing with leases. The rights and duties of landlord and tenant, along with the relationship between them, has been developed by the common law and codified in various pieces of legislation such as the Landlord and Tenant Act 1985 and the Housing Act 2004.
