A copyright assignment is a legal agreement that allows a creator to transfer their ownership and rights in creative work(s) to another party. For example, authors may assign the copyright in their books to publishers. In the UK, copyright in work(s) to be completed in the future can also be assigned. The assignment agreement is intended to protect the rights of both parties by providing an accurate record of ownership.
