Under s7 of  The Management of Houses in Multiple Occupation (England) Regulations 2006 it is clearly stated that it is the 'manger's' (landlords) responsibility to keep the common areas in good and clean repair. Often, to ensure they meet these standards, landlords of HMOs might arrange weekly cleans of these common areas (such as kitchens and bathrooms).
