Standard industrial classification of economic activities (SIC) codes are 5 digit numbers that provide a framework for collecting statistical data relating to economic activity in the UK. The idea of SIC codes is to classify the type of activity your business carries out.
There are over 600 SIC codes for a company to choose from and a company must provide at least 1 SIC code when incorporating.
However, it is not uncommon for a business to feel as though more than one SIC code fits their business and a company can select up to four SIC codes to describe their activities.
