Counterparty

A counterparty is the other person or organisation that enters into a contract or transaction with you.

For example, in a services agreement the customer and supplier are counterparties. In a tenancy agreement, the landlord and tenant are counterparties. Identifying each counterparty clearly helps explain who has each right, obligation and risk under the contract.
